Meet David Porter—A Wildlife Conservationist. His story begins 60 years ago in Waynesboro, Mississippi. Early in life, a beloved mentor showed him the greatest lengths of love and life skills. She taught him how to catch bait, fish, pick berries, and ultimately shift his mindset that still impacts him today in Corporate America. She, along with a special group of men, guided him through early life and taught him about respect for the environment.

In 1989, the opportunity to acquire 900 acres of red dirt was introduced to David. Without hesitation, David purchased the land with a vision to build a tree farm that benefitted the environment at many different levels and provided a feasible income. Thanks to his great friends at Scotch Land Management and NRCS, their dream became their reality. And for 32 years, his love and dedication to a life of growing up outdoors has ultimately led the success of building a sustainable environment. David is driven by his devotion to building a greener environment and his prosperity has gone unrecognized.

On June 17, 2021, David shared his story and was awarded the Outstanding Wildlife Conservationist plaque for the Southern Mississippi area. His success continued when the state recognized his dedication further. On January 19, 2022, he humbly accepted the Outstanding Wildlife Conservationist award given by the Mississippi Conservation District for the entire state.

David and his wife, Sabrina continue to build their dream and hope to further create a world that will allow future generations to flourish.
